How did the idea for the series come about?
There wasn’t a specific idea. Jaq and I knew when we discovered each other that we ride the same wave of energy … It was just a very natural collaboration.
Can we photograph the female body in a more powerful way?
The female body is powerful no matter how it’s photographed. I think it’s more about changing the way we visualize and define powerful; there is power in weakness, there is power in strength, there is power in nudity, there is power in modesty … there’s power in every way the female form is shown. It shouldn’t have to be photographed in a certain way to be powerful … because power isn’t tangible … It’s the energy you put into the form and the photograph that makes it powerful, not necessarily the visuals.
How would you define beauty?
Beauty for me is giving and feeling love.
What inspires you and what makes you happy?
Traveling truly inspires me, you know … colors in foreign places, being surrounded by strangers, meeting new people … the whole experience is always refreshing my vision. I think visual, cultural and emotional newness inspires me. I’m also inspired by my relationships and the energy of those I surround myself with. What makes me happy? Puppies make me happy. Any animal makes me happy … and spicy food.
Film or digital?
Lastly, what’s next for you?
Ummmm.. unsure, after Central America I think I’ll be in the southern states of the U.S and then Southeast Asia and Australia this spring?? But who knows, I never really know what’s next.
