Mateusz Hajman is a 26-year-old photographer from Katowice, Silesia, Poland. He graduated from Painting Department Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice and he loves to use analogue and polaroid cameras. Mateusz mostly aims for natural and sleepy mood in his staged photos.
How did the idea for the series come about?
Generally I focus on a quite natural, calm, even sleepy mood for my photos. In this set I really like the low morning sunlight that gives the generic feeling to the whole series.
How do you approach these intimate shoots?
I’ve shot a lot of nudes so I can say that for me it’s a pretty ‘common situation’ but of course it could be specific. Everyone’s a little shy at the beginning (including me). I usually try to talk a lot about different stuff as in normal situations and help the model to forget and stop caring about not being fully dressed and to act naturally.
What inspires you?
Movements of models, random stuff I notice during a regular day and other people’s great works.
How would you define beauty?
Oh I hate these simple questions (smiling). In general it’s light and movements of a model.
Film or digital?
Film and polaroid.
What makes you happy?
What’s next for you?
I’m working on publishing my own photo calendar for 2018, and also on other two secrets project – TBA.
