Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week Vol 3
The third day of Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week belonged to one and only Jan Černý – a graduate student of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. A creator of edgy menswear pieces shown at Amsterdam Fashion Week or Slovak Fashion Week Initiative Bratislava and featured in Vogue Italia, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Elle Czech or Le21éme.
His show was situated at an outside venue called Letenská pláň and open to public for free – which is really rare for fashion events like this.
The collection for Spring/Summer 2019 was everything and more we could expect from Jan’s creativity and precision. In this season he incorporated more colours but everything still stays quite subtle and elegant. A few pieces stood out with splashed-like patterns. Classic silhouettes were complemented with crossbody bags, reflective detailing and cut-outs. Sneakers made in collaboration with Prestige were showcased with new colourways and Jan also added some rubber band details.
When the whole show came to the end, all the models ran out half-naked onto the runway to highlight the madness and wildness of Jan’s unforgettable show. After witnessing all of this, we don’t hesitate saying that Jan is one of the most promising young designers in Europe.
