Macarena Puelles is a Peruvian photographer who focuses on people of her generation, skin and erotic vibes. Her photography is inspired by dreams, the women’s empowerment and feminism.
How did the idea for the series come about?
I wanted to shoot with Camila for a long time after I’d met her at a fashion shoot. She led me to the idea of women as sirens and goddesses of the seas.
How did your shoot with Camila go?
The shoot was excellent, Camila is a versatile model and she knows how to pose and that makes things easier.
Can we photograph the female body differently in a more powerful way?
Yes we can, we just need to believe that the body does not only enhance the person in an aesthetic way, but it is also important to express our inner selves and we need to use it that way too.
What inspires you?
The human body in general, also the empowerment of women towards the society that downplays them.
How would you define beauty?
Beauty is what you think is beautiful. The society has a lot of parameters for beauty but only fools follow them.
Film or digital?
Both film and digital.
What makes you happy?
Being surrounded by people with great ideas.
What’s next for you?
Im making a portfolio; I’m photographing what I’m curious about and that’s how doors open for me.
