Marco Traverso is a 21-year-old Fine Arts student based in Milan, Italy. He’s shy when talking about his private life and terrible at explaining his work.

How did the idea for the series come about?

I wanted to investigate the word ‘intimacy’ and what that actually means to someone.

How do you approach these intimate shoots?

I’m a really chatty guy so creating an easy and relaxed environment is quite natural for me. However, I believe that establishing a trustworthy relationship is always the first step and makes the result great.

Can we photograph the female body differently in a more powerful way?

Every body is unique so shooting it up close, or without filters can be extremely powerful already.

What inspires you?

Anything to be honest.

How would you define beauty?

Beauty is subjective, it’s cultural. It’s not easy to say but I would define it as a perfect or harmonious balance between form and its rational order.

Film or digital?

Film makes it more magical and I don’t mind fucking up sometimes, I quite like it.

What makes you happy?

Keeping myself busy on projects, getting inspired.

What’s next for you?

Roadtripping across Norway this summer with a couple of friends.
