How did the idea for the series come about?
My series are never really planned, depending on a light, model, conditions and vibes … With Manon we just improvised with what we found. In my mind I would create something girly, sweet and colorful. The sunset just came up and it was perfectly on time.
Can we photograph the female body in a more powerful way?
In my opinion, everything depends on the model. What she inspires, emits. A body without any other subjects is wonderful, it is true. Accessories may sublime it. The powerful way depends on details, every woman is different. Nothing is treated on the same level.
How would you define beauty?
Beauty is something deeply true. A stolen smile. A quick eye contact. Beauty is something real, not acted, not played, something in which we want to believe instantly. It’s not something calculated, pondered, discussed, that’s fake beauty for me.
What inspires you and what makes you happy?
What inspires me is my direct environment. People that I meet, who cross my way. They are fascinating, everyone with different stories to tell and teach you. I like it. I like to immortalize those simple, shared moments. Travels that I plan. The unexpected, the surprises and new challenges make me definitely the happiest.
Film or digital?
Film and digital. It’s like if you have a brother and a sister, they are different, you love them both and you can’t choose the one that you prefer. Depends on the instant, on the mood. Film for me immortalizes the instant, the surprise, the ephemeral beauty. Digital is the security, insurance to keep what you want in memory.
Lastly, what’s next for you?
To adopt my new life in Canada, people that I will meet here and experiences that I will share with them. My next travels and challenges to take up.
